Jahresbericht
Hanh's father has told us that Hanh enjoys playing with dolls and singing. She helps her family to take care of younger siblings.
Hanh has been healthy over the last year.
Hanh is attending primary school. She is in the second grade.
Her performance over the last year has been average. Her favourite lesson in school is Vietnamese. She travels on foot and it takes her less then 30 min. to get there.
There have been no changes to those who live with Hanh.
The family are building a new house which is made of brick and wood with a currogated asbestos roof and a brick floor.
The family use a whole in the ground for their toilet facilities.
There is enough water during both rainy and dry seasons. It comes from an open well. The water is not safe to drink, due to a lack of treatment.
The nearest health facilities are the traditional healer, the health centre and the pharmacy which are about fifteen minutes away. If there were an emergency case, the family would have to travel about one hour to get to the nearest hospital.
Over the last year, Phu Tho program unit has continued its efforts together with the community to gain achievement in healthcare, water and environmental sanitation, education which you can see below. Capacity building and networking for local people have been promoted to ensure the ownership and sustainability of the community development. We also strengthened the participation of villagers by founding groups such as agricultural extension club to share experiences and to disseminate best practices. Besides, child right promotion has been remarkably pushed up with activities such as awareness rising, training on child rights, training on organising safe and participatory children events for facilitators who work in child activities. Child participation begins to be recognised in community. Children consultations were conducted and its result was brought into the planning for programs.

Last year, new health centres have been built and equipped. This made it easier for villagers when they need medication attention. It also provided a better place for immunization and family planning in the communities.
Plan has co-operated with community to provide families with materials, to build wells. Seven trainings on water and sanitation were held for 210 villagers who would then provide information on this issue to the whole communities. This helps reduce the diseases such as sore eyes, gynaecological disease, diarrhoea and parasitical worms.
Many agricultural training courses were conducted last year for the farmers, including integrated Pest Management for rice and green tea farming, husbandry for pig and cow rising. We also pilot tested in one commune to improve their gardens. These efforts have led to increase in productivity of their farms and thus increased household income.
Awareness on the importance of education was raised through any campaigns and training. Parents now understand better the benefit of keeping their children at school longer, especially for girl children. More schools were built to accomodate more students.
We have many vounteers who provide support to families and children in communicating with sponsors and organise children's activities. To help them work better, Plan organised a workshop for all volunteers to learn and share experiences. Evaluation and recognition are also made to motivate and appreciate their contribution in bringing lasting improvements to the children in communtities.
